Following the training, we’ll have a social evening and our first "Community Showcase" featuring dojo members and friends.
What is a Community Showcase? This is an organized but relaxed Show & Share—a low-key variety show variant. Feel free to share a story, song, skit, or anything else—the floor is yours! Suggestions for ideas are provided at the end of the section.
Reservations: Please sign up at the dojo or email to reserve a specific spot or for any technical/setup needs. Yes—friends from outside the dojo are welcome to participate!
Note: All are encouraged to share something, but if you are unable, we will be happy to have you just for your presence alone.
Recommended Items:
Potluck Dish: Please add your name to the signup list at the dojo or email with what you're bringing. Remember to bring relevant serving utensils and indicate your ingredients for those with allergies.
Show & Share Item: An instrument, a craft, a skit, a story, etc.
Not sure what to share? Here are some ideas:
A Project: Something you made or are working on (woodworking, gardening, crafts, hobby, etc.).
A Meaningful Book: A book that is important to you.
A Family Heirloom: An object with a history or a story attached to it.
A Souvenir: An item from a trip or your life that holds an important memory.
Original Artwork: A painting, sketch, or photograph you've created.
A Reading: A favorite poem, quote, or short passage.
A Performance: A song, a set of songs, or a skit! (Solo, or with friend(s)!)
Suggested Contribution: $75 – $150+ (Please contribute as much as you can; all proceeds to the Scholarship Fund). Note: Our goal is to grow the scholarship fund while ensuring our entire community can practice together. No one will be turned away for lack of funds—our priority is your presence on the mat!
Registration: Please sign up at the dojo, email, or call to let us know if you are coming for the training, the evening social, or both.
Funds: Accepted by Interac e-Transfer to info@monteregieaikikai.com, credit card, or cash at the door.
